  • I recognize the debt but the amount does not seem to be right. What should I do?
    At CCMR3 we do not want you to pay an amount that you do not owe. Please give us a call and one of our representatives can help you.
  • I do not recognize this debt as mine. What should I do?
    If you believe that we have contacted you about a debt that you do not owe please contact us, a representative can be reached toll free at 866-272-4035 on Monday-Friday from 8:00am-6:00pm EST or you can let us know via our online contact form and finally you can send us a written letter of dispute.
  • How can I get specific information about what I owe?
    You can request information about the debt placed with CCMR3 by contacting us by phone at 1-866-272-4035, sending us a letter or using our online form. Please note that in order to send you detailed information about your debt or discuss your debt over the phone we are required by law to confirm your identity.
  • I cannot afford to pay this debt. What should I do?
    If you have received correspondence from CCMR3 on a debt that you owe but are unable to pay the full balance owed please call us at 1-866-272-4035. One of our representatives can discuss different payment plan options with you. Remember we are here to help you.

About Debt Collection:

  • What is a debt collector?
    Under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, in general, a debt collector is a person or a company that regularly collects debts owed to others, usually when those debts are past due.
  • What should I do if contacted by a debt collector?
    Respond as soon as possible. If you do not respond, the collection agency will continue to try to make contact with you to collect what is believed to be a valid debt.
  • When can a debt collector call me?
    The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act assumes convenient times to contact you to be after 8:00am and before 9:00pm in your time zone. A debt collector is allowed to contact you any day of the week. Sundays and holidays included, unless you tell them not to. You must state verbally or in writing that you do not want to be contacted on a particular day of the week, a particular holiday or between a certain period.
  • Can a collection agency call me at work?
    Yes, unless the debt collector knows or has reason to know that your employer prohibits you from receiving such communications. If you are prohibited from being contacted at work, inform the debt collector and provide an alternate telephone number where you may be contacted to discuss the account.
  • I would like to dispute the accuracy of the bill. What can I do?
    Send the collection agency a written notice of dispute. If you notify the debt collector of your dispute or request verification of debt within 30 days of receiving the validation notice, the collection agency must stop all communications with you. They may resume contact with you once the verification of the debt is obtained and mailed to you.
  • What is a validation notice?
    You will receive your initial notice of the debt. This is commonly called the validation notice. The following is what is required to be sent to you within five days of the debt collectors first contact: * Amount of the debt * Name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed * Notification that you have 30 days to dispute the debt or the debt will be assumed valid * The debt collector must provide written verification of the debt, including name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor.
  • Can I be sued if I fail to pay a debt?
    Yes, a civil lawsuit may be filed against you in the state where you reside if you fail to pay a debt. If you fail to answer the lawsuit then a default judgment may be entered against you. Once the judgment is obtained against you, you may also be liable for court costs and attorney fees. You should consult with an attorney if you are sued.
  • Can my bank account be garnished to collect a debt?
    When a judgment has been obtained, the creditor can request the court to issue a garnishment writ. They can garnish your bank accounts, savings accounts, as well any non-exempt personal property of yours held by a third party. If sued, consult with an attorney.
  • Can my wages be garnished to collect a debt?
    Wages can be garnished to pay court-ordered child support, spousal maintenance, defaulted student loans, unpaid taxes and other debts. Federal and state laws offer some protections for certain sources of income.
  • Can I go to jail for non-payment of a debt?
    No, you will not be arrested or placed in jail for non-payment of a debt.

  • How do I setup a payment plan?
    If you cannot afford to pay your debt in one payment our representatives will work with you to setup a payment plan. In order to do that please call one of our representatives over the phone by calling 1-866-272-4035 on Monday-Friday from 8:00am-6:00pm EST. CCMR3 will make every attempt to set up a viable payment plan within the constraints given to us by our client.
